It’s been a strange summer for weather here in New Jersey. Temperatures soar over 90 degrees more than in previous years, and with that comes stronger and more frequent rainstorms. As a result, it’s been a bit buggy by way of spiders and mosquitos.
 
Essential oils of lemon and eucalyptus are popular in recent reports but peppermint oil is also making waves as a recommended pest deterrent. Seventh Generation had a simple DIY recipe that inspired Happi to give it a try.
 
At the local health food store, I picked up a bottle of Aura Cacia Peppermint Oil for under $10 and mixed 5-7 drops in a spray bottle.

I then added a pump of Method’s limited edition Mint dish soap to add an extra kick, but this one should work as well.

I filled the rest of the bottle with water and gave it a shake. Spray windows, doors and any other surfaces that might gather cobwebs or welcome in unwanted guests. A bonus is that it gives the room a fresh minty scent, and a little goes a long way!
